Pete Hancock
Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Pete brings nearly 40 years of musical experience to the band. Originally a classically trained percussionist, Pete started his musical career playing with school bands and ultimately winning a place in the Bedfordshire County Youth Orchestra.
Following a series of lessons with Martin Hearn (The Drifters), Pete played with a variety of bands until early 1994, when he successfully auditioned to play drums for Britpop band Numb (featuring Adam Wakeman on keyboards), who recorded and toured throughout the mid to late 90's, winning support slots with the likes of Shed Seven, Echobelly and Simon Townshend along the way.
As a session player, Pete has been very much in demand, having performed with many acts, including Clem Curtis and The Foundations, not to mention performances with members of Black Sabbath, Bad Company, Jamiroquai and Liberty X. More recently, Pete has played for top function bands, including 10-piece soul band Blue Train and Britpop tribute band The Blue Renegades, until joining Albany Down as a full-time member in 2019.
